Assessment of interspecific hybridization between wild beet Beta vulgaris L. subsp. maritima and cultivated sugar beet under Moroccan conditions

چکیده

Obtaining a viable and fertile beet hybrid resulting from wild cultivated sugar crosses under Moroccan conditions is challenging. To deal with hybridization, barriers in beet, such as concordance of flowering period between biannual annual subspecies, aptitude according to vernalization requirement, genotype incompatibility sterility, should be overcome. In our study, interspecific hybrids were obtained 17 Beta vulgaris subsp. maritima, collected different regions Morocco. Twenty-two agro-morphological traits used for the evaluation 208 plants, greenhouse conditions. CH WH on parents separately. Most behaved which 83.17% able flower produce seeds without any requirements. All 57.06% morphologically similar their parent. However, 24% phenotypically The remaining plants behaving intermediate genotypes both parents. Our results showed success emphasized high variability among genotypes. This great importance improvement breeding programs patterns understanding.

Sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.).

Creating transgenic plants is invaluable for the genetic analysis of sugar beet and will be increasingly important as sugar beet genomic technologies progress. A protocol for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of sugar beet is described in this chapter. Our protocol is optimized for a sugar beet genotype that performs exceptionally well in tissue culture, including the steps of dedifferentia...

A morphogenetic crop model for sugar-beet (Beta vulgaris L.)

This paper is the instructions for the proceeding of the International Symposium on Crop. Sugar beet crop models have rarely taken into account the morphogenetic process generating plant architecture despite the fact that plant architectural plasticity plays a key role during growth, especially under stress conditions. The objective of this paper is to develop this approach by applying the Gree...

Growth and dry matter partitioning in sugar beet plants (Beta vulgaris L.) under moderate drought

Growth response of sugar beet plants to drought stress applied at different growth stages has been investigated. Cessation of watering imposed moderate water stress and resulted in the reduction of the relative water content of young and old leaves maximally by 6%. However, water content in taproot was more drastically decreased than in the shoot. Water withholding reduced dry maer accumulatio...

Changes in Carbohydrates and Sugar Yield in Sugar Beet (Beta Vulgaris L.) Under Different Biofertilizers and Irrigation Closed Time

Objective: Many agronomic practices may need to be adjusted to maximize yield and quality of sugar beet. Thus agronomic package must be always modified. This sutdy was laid out for evaluation of changes in carbohydrates and sugar yield in sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) under different biofertilizers and irrigation closed time at Dorud region of Iran, during 2013. Methods: The experiment...

Positive correlation between recombination rates and levels of genetic variation in natural populations of sea beet (Beta vulgaris subsp. maritima).

The relation between the level of genetic variation and the rate of recombination per physical unit was investigated in sea beet (Beta vulgaris subsp. maritima). The rate of recombination per physical unit was estimated indirectly through marker density in an RFLP linkage map of sugar beet. From this map, we also selected RFLP markers covering two of the nine chromosomes in Beta. The markers we...
